Yield Estimation

The Yield Estimation Portal provides crop yield estimates based on the PMFBY YES-TECH model.

Selecting State and Crop

  • Click the State Selector dropdown in the right panel and choose your desired state. The map updates to show that state's boundaries.
  • Click the Crop Selection dropdown. Currently available crops are Paddy and Wheat (semi-physical model).
  • Click the Season Selection dropdown.
  • The boundary option lets you drill down to either the village or the district level.
  • Click the Model Selection dropdown. Currently the Semi-Physical Model (PMFBY YES-TECH) is provided — this is the recommended model for yield estimation.
  • Select a village by typing the village name in the search field on the top-left panel, or click directly on the village on the map. The information panel opens on the right side.

Reading the Yield Estimation Panel

When you click a village, the right panel displays:

  • Current Yield Estimate — yield value in quintals per hectare (q/ha)
  • Insurance Unit Area — total notified area for insurance purposes (hectares)
  • Model Details — information about the semi-physical model used
  • 5-Year Historical Trend — a graph showing yield estimates for the previous 5 years

Grey Areas on Map

Some areas appear grey, indicating no data is available. This occurs because:

  • the area is outside PMFBY coverage, or
  • the YES-TECH model has not been calibrated for that region.

The portal only displays yield data for PMFBY-covered areas. Coverage varies by state and district.

Model Information

  • Model used: Semi-Physical Model (PMFBY YES-TECH)
  • Data sources: satellite imagery, weather data, soil information
  • Applicability: model performance may vary by region and crop variety. The YES-TECH model is calibrated for specific crops and regions under PMFBY.
