Livestock
The DiCRA Livestock Portal provides a comprehensive, interactive interface to explore livestock-related data derived from climate datasets. It enables users to visualize livestock heat-index vulnerability, statistics, trends, and patterns.
Dashboard
Navigate to the DiCRA Livestock Portal. Upon loading, the main dashboard interface typically consists of:
- a Livestock Heat Impact map visualiser
- livestock statistics on the left sidebar
The interface is responsive and interactive, enabling you to zoom, pan, and explore spatial data visually.
Livestock Heat Impact
Selecting any location on the map within the heat-impact dashboard opens the info panel on the right-hand side for that location. You can also search for a location using the search box at the top left.
The heat-impact info panel provides:
- location and latitude/longitude
- cattle heat index methodology
- current heat-stress value with a severity label
- 7-day forecast for heat stress
- historical heat-impact trends across 1-month, 3-month, and 6-month views
This helps you identify regions of potential risk due to heat-impact stressors and understand how heat impact changes over time, aiding understanding of how climatic variables correlate with livestock productivity or health.
Livestock Statistics
Selecting any location on the map within the Livestock Statistics section opens the info panel on the right-hand side for that location. Data is provided at a district level.
The statistics info panel provides:
- district and state info
- livestock population data
- poultry population data
- number of veterinary hospitals and veterinary doctors within the district
- a pie chart showing cattle distribution, followed by the individual population numbers for each cattle type
This helps you understand livestock population numbers and identify geographic hotspots of concentration.
