Weather

The DiCRA Weather Portal provides access to meteorological information sourced from the India Meteorological Department (IMD). It presents real-time and predictive weather data in an accessible, structured format. The portal includes current station context, hourly and 7-day forecasts, trend visualizations, weather advisories, and emergency alert information.

Navigate to the DiCRA Weather Portal Dashboard and use the search bar or compass icon to select your location, which will automatically load the area's relevant weather data, including station proximity, current conditions, and forecast summaries.

Station Info and Current Weather​

This section displays the following:

  • Nearest station distance and coordinates — displays the name, geographic coordinates (latitude and longitude), and distance of the closest IMD weather observation station to the selected location.
  • Real-time readings for relative humidity (%), wind speed and direction, and recent rainfall or precipitation accumulation at the referenced station.
  • An interactive map overlay that plots both the user-selected location and the IMD station, allowing the user to visually assess the spatial gap between them and interpret data accuracy accordingly.
  • Hourly forecast — displays weather parameter projections on an hour-by-hour basis for the current and upcoming day.
  • 7-day forecast — provides a day-by-day weather outlook for the next seven days, showing expected high and low temperatures, weather conditions, and precipitation likelihood.
  • 7-day rainfall and temperature trends — presents graphical trend charts showing the variation in rainfall and temperature over the upcoming seven-day period.

Alerts and Alert History​

  • IMD severe weather alerts display official warnings issued for events such as heavy rainfall, strong winds, thunderstorms, or extreme temperatures.
  • CAP emergency alerts show Common Alerting Protocol (CAP)-formatted emergency notifications.
  • Each alert is tagged with a severity level, and the system automatically filters and prioritizes alerts based on proximity to the selected location.
  • Last 7 days alert history — provides a log of all weather alerts issued in the previous seven days for the selected region.

Agromet Advisory​

The Agromet Advisory module provides weather-informed agricultural guidance tailored to local conditions and the current season. These advisories are generated based on IMD forecast data and are designed to assist farmers and field extension officers in aligning farm operations with prevailing and anticipated weather patterns.
