Weather

The DiCRA Weather Portal presents comprehensive meteorological information from IMD, including current station context, hourly and 7-day weather forecasts, 7-day trends, IMD agro-met advisories, and IMD/CAP alerts — all based on your location and the nearest weather station to it.

Dashboard​

Navigate to the DiCRA Weather Portal. Use the search bar to find a location, or click the compass button at the top right to provide your current location. This calibrates the portal to your location, after which you receive the information below.

Station Info & Current Weather​

  • The distance and latitude/longitude details of the nearest weather station to the selected location.
  • The current weather card, with key indicators such as humidity, wind speed and direction, and rainfall or precipitation probability.
  • A map view that visualizes the distance from the selected location to the weather station.

Forecast & Trends​

  • Toggle between the hourly forecast and the 7-day forecast using the controls on the left-hand side.
  • The hourly forecast helps you understand when the warmest or coolest parts of the day will occur.
  • The 7-day forecast is useful for planning events or field activity timings based on rain likelihood.

7-day trend graphs for rainfall and temperature can be toggled to view the maximum and minimum temperature/rainfall values respectively, along with the change in each over the next 7 days.

Active Alerts & Alert History​

  • IMD provides alerts or warnings for heavy rainfall, winds, thunderstorms, heat, and other severe weather risks.
  • CAP alerts issuing emergency warnings are also incorporated.
  • Both are provided with colour-coded severity labels (yellow, orange, red in increasing order of severity for IMD alerts).
  • The locations of the weather stations disseminating alerts are shown, with alerts integrated from multiple stations within a large radius of your selected location.
  • Click the "Nearest alerts" checkbox to show only alerts from the weather stations nearest to your location.
  • Alert history provides the full list of alerts disseminated by IMD within the last 7 days.

Agromet Advisory​

The Agromet Advisory provides decision-support recommendations from IMD targeted toward agricultural users, including:

  • crop-specific weather guidance
  • irrigation recommendations based on expected rain
  • frost, heat-stress, or strong-wind advisories
  • seasonal risk insights

These advisories help farmers and rural planners align agricultural activities with weather forecasts.
